The ending of Mass Effect 3 has absolutely no bearing on the journey that the player took to get there. ![]() There's been a lot of digital ink spilled talking about whether the ending was "good" or "bad," or whether it violated the game's internal consistency or broke the rules of drama, or how someone's particular Commander Shepard character would have come up with a better option. We all know how the series ends: a grievously wounded Commander Shepard has a long conversation with an AI about the nature of the Reapers, and the player is then presented with three (later updated to four) unpalatable choices on how to save the galaxy.
